You believably haven't heard of the Shenzhen-based keyboard makers, Accho, just if you've been scared off the enthusiast keyboard market by the $200+ boards flooding the Earth, so it's worth remunerative attention to Akko. It's making enthusiast keyboards waaaay Sir Thomas More accessible.
I love an enthusiast keyboard. Yeah, I'm nonpareil of those guys, one of those World Health Organization will get ahead anal about on the nose which sort of mechanical switches they're tapping away happening. But it's an expensive, on the whole unnecessary luxury interest, sat atop the other dear luxury in my life: Personal computer gaming. The recent rise of the partisan keyboard market is such that every time-honored manufacturer has started to embrace the idea of hot swappable mechanized switches, double shot PBT keycaps, and boards that are non just the traditional 100% 104-key layout.
The Akko Prunus Lannesiana 3098B is a $110 compact 98-describe board, that manages to squeezing in a full numpad despite organism only marginally wider than a TKL board without one. Information technology's also wireless, using either Bluetooth 5.0 or a 2.4GHz micro USB dongle, or wired via a USB Type-C line.
That's not a bad price for a wireless mechanical gaming keyboard, only it's also adventurous genuine fancier credentials thanks to its double shot PBT keycaps, sound moistening foam layer, with silicone polymer pad 'tween the PCB and bottom of the chassis analogous to the Razer Huntsman V2.
That PCB allows for hot swappable mechanical switches to be well born in and pulled come out happening the fly. It's a 5-pin connection soh just about switches you can buy out volition well fit.

Though you do get your choice of Akko's own Cesium (Custom-built Series) switches included anyways, so that's only something you need worry about later if you choose to replace the lot. My review unit has come with the slightly CS tactile Chromatic Imperial switches, but if you're buying like a sho you have the option of either Accho CS Jelly Pink or Livid linear switches with scatter-proof Cherry MX compatible stems.
And I've got to say, I'm seriously impressed with the quality of these budget mech switches. They are big-shouldered, solid, and totally phrase. And, much importantly to a keyboard nerd corresponding me, they feel rattling, really good to use. The typing know is spic-and-span, aided by the highly concave keycaps on the letters fashioning me near mis-strike free. Normally I'm a typo political machine…
There are no more discrete media keys—just alternate Fn modifier functions you volition on a regular basis have to look up in the manual—and you don't get luxuries like a wrist rest. Then again we are talking just about a genuinely compact, inexpensive board, though one which is about whole fully featured. It means you get the functionality of a full-size 100% board, though with the extra desktop real estate afforded to your mouse by the compact design. And that's super handy for gamers wanting the extra space for your moo-DPI mouse input.
The 98-fundamental layout only eschews a handful of keys PC gamers rarely care about. I bet you couldn't even describ the six keys that are wanting from the pattern. I mean, who pauses or breaks these days?
While we're talking about design, I am a BIG fan of the clean, clear font Akko has used for the Prunus Lannesiana 3098B. And who doesn't love a white and cardinal-flavor pink keyboard? In terms of work up quality it's tiptop, besides. I've used many an a straight out-the-factory brand keyboard in my time, and I wear't consider any have felt this robust Beaver State this pro straight away the box. It feels care information technology's semen from a company who has got the manufacturing absolutely nailed down, and is now moving on to aesthetics.
And Akko is for certain swell to campaign that side, with so many different custom designs connected offer. Gotta say I'm very partial to the Spongebob keyboard. Just if you desire a straitlaced keyboard with these enthusiast leanings Akko offers that, too. There's a range of barebones boards to woof from, which you can economic consumption to form the base of your own custom keeb with your own pick of keycaps and switches.
Acre also has a huge salmagundi of affordable hot swappable mech switches happening pop the question connected their own; quality options that are fewer than incomplete the price I paid for a set out of Halo True switches just last year. This is a company that's offering treble levels of customisation for such an accessible price. It's absolutely fantastic, and with the select on offer I'm really impressed with the closing result.
The only real issue I had with the board came during apparatus, where enabling the 2.4GHz radio receiver mode compulsory a little more effort than simply flipping the switch connected the back of the add-in. Information technology took a download of the manual to discover that it required an extra Fn+Y to kickstart its wireless connection even with the mini dongle plugged in and constituted by Windows.
I did also stimulate to update the firmware via the Acre Cloud Driver, which was admittedly a rattling easy cognitive process. The computer software itself is pretty basic, but does tolerate you to add in your have macros and adjust the per-key RGB illumination. Did aim a bit of digging approximately the Akko support pages to find it, however. But these are minor things, quickly forgotten erst the add-in is effect and you'Re bashing departed at information technology.
The Prunus Lannesiana 3098B is a showcase for what Akko is doing in the partisan keyboard sphere, and I think information technology's great that someone is oblation so many options to a far broader hearing than we've seen before. And the 3098B is a groovy board on its own merits, too. The radio set is responsive, the build quality is excellent, the rate proposition is great, and the actual feel of using the keyboard is outstanding.
Yeah, I'd love a wrist rest to supporting these weary joints of mine, and I love a discrete volume control, but this is one of the best small brand compact wireless keyboards I've ever used.
Akko 3098B keyboard
This receiving set gaming keyboard May not come from a pregnant brand, but it's got big brand build calibre and offers fancier-tier options for incomplete the price of some of the more recent keebs we've tested. And the typing experience is as good as whatsoever we've used.
